Hi, I’m Barbara, a proud daughter, friend, wife, mother , educator and most recently, Grandmother. Each of these roles has added its own depth and joy to my life, shaping the woman I am today.
I was born in South Florida and grew up in a traditional Cuban home during the 1970’s and 80’s, a time when family, faith and community were everything. These early years taught me the value of connection, resilience and celebration, lessons that continue to guide me today.
For several years, my dear friend Kim from KimsKurations.com, encouraged me to share my love for travel and wine. The idea interested me and I always intended to but as life often goes, time slipped by. Now, inspired by a new season and a cherished new role, I’ve decided its time to begin.
Through this blog , I’ll share the highs and lows, the plans and spontaneity and the everyday moments of this “Wayya Life” that I love so much. You will find reflections on my personal growth, mindset and authenticity. Stories from my adventures that include my active grandmother lifestyle, travel, dining, inspiration and ideas on how to live more intentionally and make space for joy!
So, What is a Wayya? It’s the sweet and unexpected name my Grandson gave me, his own version of “Abuela” the Spanish word for grandmother. From his little voice Abuela became Wayya and I couldn’t love it more!
With a renewed zest for life, I’ve launched A Wayya Life- a destination for women navigating their fabulous 50’s and beyond with curiosity, courage and grace. It’s about the art of living well, embracing adventure and honoring the beauty of every chapter.
If you are ready to step off the beaten path, reclaim your joy, and live with intention, you’re in the right place! Let’s inspire, uplift and learn from one another- one story, one experience and one glass of wine at a time.
Welcome to A Wayya Life. I am so glad you are here!
